In a future world ravaged by global warming, nature is extinct, and people live and work in specially designed indoor communities. When Asha, a young African woman, receives a box in the mail containing soil, she plants an old seed in it, and the seed starts to germinate. Asha appeals for permission to investigate the possibility of life on the outside, but is denied. Asha's only hope--and the only hope for humankind--is for her to break out of the community and seek a place where she can plant the precious seedling.

An Evening with Pascale Obolo

On 06 and 12 May, the new film Calypso Rose: Lioness of the Jungle, a biographical documentary about the calypso queen of the world, Calypso Rose, will have its world premiere in Tobago and Trinidad, respectively.
The director of the film, Pascale Obole, will be in T&T for the film's premiere. On 11 May, she will be at the ttff's offices in Port of Spain, where she will talk about her life as a filmmaker and especially the experience of making the Calypso Rose documentary. She will accompany her talk with clips from the film.
A native of Cameroon, Ms Obole is a graduate of the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Francais and the University of Paris. She was one of the first people to document the Parisian hip hop and graffiti art scenes on film. Among her other films is the documentary Calypso at Dirty Jim's (2005).
