Jury Prizes
In addition to the audience awards, the ttff awards three prizes—for Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, and Best Trinidad and Tobago Film—that are chosen by a jury. Every year the jury is made up of five different local, regional and international film industry professionals (filmmakers, film scholars, producers, critics etc), all independent of the ttff. Before coming to the Festival, each juror is sent copies of all films in competition. They rate each film via a points system, judging by such criteria as directing, cinematography, editing, story and plot, and acting. Having chosen their best films, the jury members meet during the Festival and have a debate to decide which films will be awarded the various prizes. The members of the jury will be announced later this year.

People's Choice Awards
Every year, the ttff gives three people’s choice awards—Best Dramatic Feature, Best Documentary, and Best Short—based on audience votes.

Youth Film Concept
In 2010, the ttff hosted its first ever youth film concept initiative. Presented in association with RBC/RBTT, the idea behind the initiative was two-fold: to elicit concepts for a series of short promotional films for this year’s Festival, as well as provide a helping hand to youngsters (28 years and under) interested in becoming filmmakers.

The initiative asked entrants to come up with as many concepts as possible for a 30- or 60-second film based on the ttff’s theme, “You’re in Focus”. There was the stipulation that concepts were not to contain any dialogue.

Of the entries received, four winning concepts were chosen, one of which was used to create the official trailer for the ttff/10. The winners were all invited to participate in the production of their concepts, which was handled by the ttff.

The winners received cash prizes of TT$3,000 each, which were presented at the awards ceremony for the ttff/10, on October 3 at the Carlton Savannah.

The films of the winning concepts were screened in the run-up to and during the Festival at the various MovieTowne multiplexes, on FLOW, on Gayelle the Channel, and throughout the country at select venues.
